Religious Education - What is it?
In religious education, we deal with questions of how teaching and learning about religious topics can succeed. In concrete terms, this means how children, adolescents and adults can be encouraged to deal with religious issues and how they can be supported and accompanied in such a way that they can grow in their engagement with religious topics. The study program at our chair therefore imparts theological, pedagogical and didactic competencies and combines theory and teaching practice in the internship that accompanies the study program.
Profile of our chair
Our chair aims to enable students to develop and deepen theological and pedagogical thinking. This happens in the context of social and educational present and in the processing of current developments and challenges.
Inclusion and Digitalisation
The work at our chair is characterized by an inclusive view of religious education and by the question of how digitalization processes can shape religious teaching and learning. We deal with questions of digitization, for example, through the research project RELab digital.
Interreligiosity and antisemitism critical education
Another focus of our chair is interreligious cooperation with Judaism and Islam. A special concern of ours is education critical of anti-Semitism, for which the Center for Education Critical of Antisemitism was established at our chair.
Interactive Learning and theTheology of Paul Tillich
In addition, we are intensively involved in the development of a multimedia learning platform for theology students, which serves the independent examination of the life and work of the theologian Paul Tillich.
